An escrow state
One short word on the order page, and it is the most consequential thing on your screen, because it decides who is currently able to move your money and how many signatures that takes.

An order header. The state and the window are the two fields worth watching. The last line is the part people miss: a state is a claim somebody entered, not an observation the system made.
The states, and what each one means for the money

The one state change to refuse
Releasing early. It arrives as a reasonable request, often with a good story attached about the vendor needing to clear the order for their own reasons, and it is the only action on the page that cannot be undone by anybody.
A vendor who is going to deliver loses nothing by waiting for the window. A vendor who is not gains everything by you clicking now. From your side the two are indistinguishable, which is exactly why the answer is the same in both cases.
Finalise early as a listed option
Some listings ask for it up front, usually with a discount attached or as a condition for new buyers. That is at least honest, because it is stated in advance rather than sprung on you mid order, and you can decide with the information in front of you. What you are buying with the discount is the removal of the only protection in the arrangement, so it is worth being clear that this is the trade rather than a formality.
Reading a state that has not moved
Days can pass with nothing changing and it usually means nobody touched the page rather than that something is wrong. Vendors mark orders in batches, they take days off, and the interface has no idea where anything physically is. The only field on the page that changes by itself is the clock, and the clock is the one you should be watching.
- A state that sits still is the ordinary case for most of a window.
- A state that moves to shipped immediately means somebody clicked a button quickly, and nothing more.
- A state that goes backwards is unusual and worth a polite message, once.
- A vendor account that disappears is the one observation that is genuinely meaningful before the window ends.
