One date, two completely different situations either side of it. The same facts, the same silence from the vendor, and opposite meanings depending on which side of the line you are standing.
What the window is for
Post takes variable time, handovers fail and get retried, and a window wide enough to cover ordinary variation is what makes it possible to tell a slow delivery from a failed one. Opening a dispute inside it asks a process to answer a question it has no basis to answer yet, so a dismissal is the correct outcome rather than an unfair one.

The loss is not the order. It is the difference between the case you had and the case you spent.
Why people file early anyway
- The state has not changed. Which usually means nobody touched it, not that nothing happened.
- The vendor has gone quiet. Normal for most of a window. Answering every message individually would be a full time job.
- Tracking never registered. Weak on its own, meaningful only once the window closes.
- It feels like doing something. It is. The something is spending your position.
The exception
If the vendor account disappears entirely, waiting for the window stops being the stronger move. That is a fact about the counterparty rather than about the parcel, and it is worth acting on as soon as the process allows.
Write the date down where you will see it
Not in the order page, which requires logging in to check, and not in your head. The whole failure mode this specimen describes comes from not knowing which side of the line you are on, and the fix is a date in a file that takes four seconds to write and removes the entire problem. People who do this stop filing early, not because they became more patient but because the question stopped being a matter of feeling.
